It is the middle of August with summer rapidly slipping into fall and I am way overdue on a club update for the web page. I hope everyone has enjoyed the summer and has gotten out on their bike.
 
I, for one have not ridden as much as I hoped or plan to, due to rain and many family commitments this summer, but I did get to CANDISC this year. It was tough going for an out of shape cyclist, but I enjoyed it just the same. There were seven WCC members on the ride: Pauline, Shannon, Paul, Peter, Jim, Mayer and myself. I am hoping for a write-up of the ride from Shannon and a few more pictures. Check out the pictures in the gallery that John, Pauline’s husband sent. We are also hoping other WCC members send a small write-up and/or pictures of other rides they took part of this summer.
 
This fall we have a number of special events scheduled.
Aug 28 – The WCC BBQ has been moved to Sept 19th   a replacement – Ile des Chenes Ride – will start at Winnipeg Rowing Club – contact Rick
Sept 4/5th – Long weekend – ride info to come
Sept 12th – Fall Supper in La Boquerie Ride – this is an off-road ride that will end with a community fall supper in La Boquerie. A road option may be offered if there is enough interest. Non-rides can meet at the La Boquerie Arena to join us for supper around 4 PM.
Sept 18th – Birds Hill Sun Rise Breakfast Ride – See Birds Hill as you never seen it before. You will see the park come awake with a chance to see the sun rise from Pope’s Hill. Complete the morning with breakfast at Pine Ridge Hollow. For non-early riders meet us at the restaurant for breakfast.
Sept 19th – The WCC Birds Hill BBQ and Ride. Three rides to choose from, ending with a BBQ. Family and friends are welcome.
Sept 25th – Harte Trail – Beaudry Park Ride – Bring a lunch, last schedule ride of the year.
Note: Rick is planning another Italian Feast Ride in early October. This ride will be much like the one earlier this year. Non-riders can join us for drinks and dinner. Stay tune for more info.
 
We are looking for members who can help with the Sept 19th BBQ. Due to family commitments I will not be able to attend this year, so we are looking for some help. If you are able to help, please contact:
 
I know November seems a long way off in the future, but I would like to remind you about this fall’s AGM. I have not asked any of the 2010 executives if they are going to let their names stand for election. If you wish to have your name stand for a position or have a person in mind that you think should be approached for the club executive, please contact me at the above email address or at: 231-0280.
