At the 2010 WCC Annual General Meeting a motion was passed to explore the adoption of a new club logo to reflect the club’s new name. The Executive put out an invitation for members to summit designs for a new logo. The club received a number of designs from Shawn Kennedy. We also had a number of members suggest that we keep the present logo. From the submissions received, chosen designs were presented to our membership for feedback. We received ten responses in total.
At the February 15, 2011 Executive Meeting, after much discussion, a motion was put forward by Bob Kelly that the logo change be dropped for the following reasons:
· Lack of response from the membership
· Work load of the Executive – ride schedule, spring meeting, spring BBQ, etc.
· Cost
Kaye suggested that the word “touring” be removed. The motion passed.
Another suggestion submitted in this campaign was to have the touring bags removed from the logo to fit our new name. Attempts at altering the original design by removing the pannies were not successful, but Dan was able to remove the word "touring". So, for the 2011 season, the club will continue to use the old logo with Winnipeg Cycling Club.
