WE WILL RIDE

From the WCC President, Thanks

It was exciting to see everyone at our Spring Membership Meeting.  Thanks to George S and Roger L for stepping forward to share the new rides and events that they have planned on behalf of the club.

We are especially pleased at how smooth the membership application process has gone.  Thanks to Twila at the Manitoba Cycling Association, our MCA memberships are being processed efficiently and regular updates are provided to our Membership Coordinator, Denise D.

Season Rides Start

Monday Northspokes

A gorgeous balmy Monday evening, the whirr of bicycle wheels headed towards Lockport.  That's right, the first Northspokes ride of the year.  About a dozen WCC members took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and calm winds to gather at the Legion at Devries and Henderson and ride north.  Some wiser riders decided to take it a bit easy this early in the season turned back about 2/3 of the way to Lockport and the rest pressed on to the Half Moon

2011 WCC Logo Update

At the 2010 WCC Annual General Meeting a motion was passed to explore the adoption of a new club logo to reflect the club’s new name. The Executive put out an invitation for members to summit designs for a new logo. The club received a number of designs from Shawn Kennedy. We also had a number of members suggest that we keep the present logo.

From the submissions received, chosen designs were presented to our membership for feedback.   We received ten responses in total.

President's Spin

On behalf of the 2011 Executive I would like to wish you  all a Happy New Year.We are working to make our 2011 cycling year an active one.  One of my goals for this year is to welcome new members to our club.  I believe that in order to do so we need to have a variety of rides that cater to both new cyclists and experienced riders.

Our Wednesday night rides are a way to welcome new members and give them a
taste of a group ride.  At this time we are still looking for volunteers to help plan, lead and/or coordinate the Wednesday night rides.  If you have an idea for a Wednesday night ride, want to lead a ride or two or take on the coordination of the Wednesday night rides please let us know.

We have had interest from a number of members in helping put the day ride schedule together but have not yet had a volunteer for day ride coordinator.

In addition, some members have stated an interest in adding additional rides
to our schedule. I am excited that so many members have stepped forward with new ride ideas.

We will be organizing ride planning meetings in the near future, please feel free to contact us if you have ideas that we might include and/or would like to attend a planning meeting.

Kaye Grant, WCC President

Thank You from 2010 President

The 2010 Executive would like to thank the membership of the Winnipeg Cycling Club for a great year and especially everyone who was able to make to the Manitoba Sports for Life Centre, Tuesday, November 2nd for the 2010 AGM.

The AGM started with refreshments, and pizza from Sorrento’s. After some food refreshments and good conversation the meeting was called to order with a welcome from the President. Our guess speaker was Berrie Hall, who gave a fact fill presentation of the accomplishments of the Recreation and Transportation Committee. Which include an update on the new Active Transportation Trails and Bike Routes. This was followed by reports from the President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Membership Coordinator (minutes are posted on the web site under "Forms & Documents").
